PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Has knowledge of all major functions of the laboratory sections he/she may be assigned to; this includes proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Blood Bank Procedures; Crossmatch, Type & Screen, Antibody I.D., RhoGam, and other blood product work-ups. Chemistry/Special Chemistry-Instrumentation, Advanced troubleshooting, test procedures. Microbiology/Serology - Micro set-ups of cultures, serologic testing, and urinalysis. Hematology- instrumentation, advanced trouble-shooting, and coagulation studies. The purpose of the functions stated is to provide information for diagnosing & treatment of disease. Has the knowledge to differentiate abnormal laboratory results and communicates with physicians and nursing regarding test results. |

QUALIFICATIONS |
|
1. Education: Medical Technologist with Baccalaurent degree in Medical Technology, which includes one (1) year internship in a hospital laboratory accredited by the National Accreditation of Clinical Laboratories (NACLS) with certification from American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ACSP) or equivalent.
2. Experience: A minimum of one (1) year approved internship.
3. Physical Requirements: General good health, lifting of light objects, effective communications skills.
4. Specific Requirements: Compassion, understanding, honesty, initiative, loyalty, accuracy, dexterity, and well-groomed.
