POSITION SUMMARY

Operates extracorporeal circulation equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to support or replace the patient's cardiopulmonary/circulatory function and ensures the proper management of physiologic functions by monitoring the necessary variables.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Perfusion Technology. Pennsylvania Perfusionist licensure required.

Experience: New graduates from school of perfusion may be acceptable under specific conditions.

Specific Requirements: Must be able to speak, write and understand the English language to effectively communicate with predominantly English-speaking population. Able to work inside confined area for long periods of time. Assume the risk of being exposed to trace amounts of anesthetic gases on daily basis and exposed to x-ray frequently. Able to work with life threatening situations, make split second decisions and maintain attitude of calm under stress. Able to work long demanding hours, provide 24 48 and 72 hours of emergency call coverage.
