The Organizational Development Department at Community Medical Center offers a variety of continuing professional education programs. Contact hours are awarded for most programs. Participants must attend the offering in its entirety to receive contact hours. Pre-registration for all courses is required.
Space will be guaranteed only upon receipt of tuition. Course fees are refundable if canceled ten (10) or more business days before the start of the program. If cancellation is made less than 10 business days, a processing fee of $35.00 will be assessed and the remainder of the tuition refunded.
Substitutes for registrants are accepted. CMC reserves the right to cancel any program. In the event of cancellation, all registrants will be notified and the full course fee returned.

For payment, checks are made payable to Community Medical Center. All credit cards are accepted except American Express. Credit card payments may be made by phone: (570) 969-8001.

Program Description:
The Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Program is a two-day training program intended for healthcare providers who participate in the resuscitation of patients in the hospital or pre-hospital setting. The course involves participants in a series of simulated cardiopulmonary cases to enhance their skills in the treatment of patients.
Audience:
Healthcare providers whose occupations require proficiency in ACLS skills.
Topics Include:
- The Basic Life Support (BLS) primary survey
- The ACLS secondary survey
- Effective resuscitation team dynamics
- Management of the patient in cardiac arrest
- Selection of treatment protocols using the ACLS algorithms

Neonatal Resuscitation Course
Program Description:
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program is an educational program that teaches an evidence-based approach to neonatal resuscitation incorporating the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation. The causes, prevention, and management of mild to severe neonatal asphyxia are carefully explained so that health professionals may develop optimal knowledge and skill in resuscitation. The didactic portion of the program includes nine modules as well as skills stations that include hands-on training.
Audience:
The program is intended for physicians, nurses, midwives, respiratory therapists, and paramedics involved in critical care or transport of neonates.

Program Description:
The Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider Program is a two-day training program intended for healthcare providers who participate in the resuscitation of pediatric patients in the hospital or pre-hospital setting. The course is designed to assist the pediatric healthcare provider to develop skills necessary to effectively evaluate and manage seriously ill infants and children.
Audience:
Healthcare providers whose occupations require proficiency in PALS skills.
Topics Include:
- Systematic approach to the assessment of a seriously ill pediatric patient
- Recognition & management of a child in respiratory distress or failure
- Recognition & management of a child in compensated or hypotensive shock
- Effective resuscitation team dynamics
- Management of the pediatric patient with rhythm disturbances or cardiac arrest

Trauma Nurse Course
Program Description:
Trauma patient care, more than the care for the victims of any other condition, depends heavily on nursing interventions. This four (4) day course will provide education on trauma care as a cyclical process beginning with prevention and continuing through resuscitation, critical care, rehabilitation, and reintegration into the community.
