POSITION SUMMARY

The surgical technician/surgical LPN assists in the direct and indirect care of the surgical patient while under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. As knowledge and skills are gained, the progress on a continuum to an advanced level of practice and competency in scrubbing duties, thereby providing the physician with optimal service in a cost effective manner to meet the needs of the surgical patient.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of a school of Surgical Technologists, a previously trained LPN graduating from an approved LPN program or Medic from the Armed Services

Experience: Operating room experience or private scrub experience to a physician preferred.

Specific Requirements: Ability to work under tension. Ability to relate effectively to physicians, patients and coworkers as a team member. Ability to adapt to a call schedule and irregular working hours. Manual dexterity. Maintain respect, integrity and sense of humor.
