We want to recognize and thank our employees, medical staff and all the members of the community for enabling us to make 2007 an outstanding year. As an organization, we have so much to be thankful for.
The following is a brief summary of what our organization has achieved over the past year.
- In the most recent quarter, patient satisfaction on our New Steps Joint Replacement Unit was among the highest in the country.
- CMC has been recognized as one of the top hospitals in the US for Performance Improvement.
- CMC Cardiovascular Service Line has achieved recognition as a leader in the region:
- Chances of survival are among the best in the state when valvular heart disease is treated at CMC, according to PHC4
data. This is in addition to our exceptional survivor rates after bypass surgery as we compare ourselves to national heart
centers.
- Received the American Heart Association Award for Implementing Best Practice Guidelines for Coronary Artery Disease:
- 2006 Initial Achievement Award (BRONZE)
- 2007 Annual Achievement Award (SILVER)
- In the process of becoming a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care (Blue Cross)
- Substantially exceeded national heart care standards by consistently providing diagnostic catheterizations and
treatments to heart attack patients earlier than nationally established guidelines.
- The first hospital in northeast PA to perform laser heart lead extractions (a procedure commonly done in major
metropolitan areas only)
- The VHA Apex Award was awarded to CMC for achieving patient care excellence.
- CMC was a Gift of Life Medal of Honor Recipient (US Department of Health & Human Service Administration) for increased organ
donation rates.
- The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce awarded CMC the Healthy Work Place Award.
Despite the challenges we and many other healthcare organizations have faced, CMC has become even stronger over the past year
and continues to be a leader in providing quality healthcare to our community now and for generations to come.
